According to the legends and stories of the Hokqan, it was the three Noble Houses of this folk that divided and ruled the islands of Azuhl among themselves, long before the arrival of the Mohyar or even the Empire.
But their reign was probably short-lived, even though this may be remembered differently by the Hokqan. The alliance of the ruling families was too poisoned and fragile. All too quickly, the noble houses fell into an ugly feud full of intrigue and betrayal.
And then the Krowh returned. For centuries, the Hokqan had fought the Forgotten Guardians during their rise to power, plundering the ruins of the Ancients and converting them into their rulers’ seats. The following conflict, known as the War of the Traitors, broke the rule of the Hokqan, weakened by a raging civil war, completely. The Krowh, with the help of the shamans, drove the Hokqan out of their heritage.
Even when the Hokqan houses retreated decimated into the forests, and their once-splendid palaces fell into ruins, they never gave up the crusade against their arch enemy.
It was only when the edge of the Curse swept over the islands and the Hokqan faced final extinction, that the Three Houses decided to revive their ancient alliance.
